A local dog-training school (Australia)

Where they started

This is a local dog-training school. Before we started, we have a measured baseline covering 90 days, from 23 April to 21 July 2026, with data on all 90 of those days. Over that period the site averaged 0.66 clicks per day and 8.28 sessions per day, from 24,104 impressions in total, with an average search position of 44.3.

That combination is the story. Impressions in the tens of thousands but well under one click a day means the site was being shown to people searching, but almost never chosen, and an average position in the mid-forties puts most of those impressions well below where anyone tends to click. There were 433 open issues logged against the site across 136 pages, with 583 keywords being tracked. The problem wasn’t a lack of visibility so much as a lack of anything on the page, or in the listing, that made someone pick this result over the one above it.

The plan for the first month was to clear the backlog of technical and metadata issues that were most likely to be dragging on both crawlability and click-through, get baseline schema and content in place, and start responding to Google Business Profile reviews, since none of that had been happening.

In this first 30-day window, from 22 July to 20 August, the work done was:

  • 59 meta changes applied (titles, descriptions)
  • 5 schema changes
  • 4 pieces of content published
  • 7 Google Business Profile review replies
  • 1 Google Business Profile post

In total 76 changes were applied out of 127 proposed, with 38 verified so far and none rolled back. The rest of the proposed changes are sitting in an approval queue, not rejected.

What this has produced so far is early and, on the headline traffic numbers, not yet positive. Clicks per day fell to 0.3, down from the 0.66-a-day baseline. Sessions per day held roughly steady at 8.13 against a baseline of 8.28. Average position moved slightly, from 44.3 to 43.9, which is not a meaningful shift on its own. Of the nine keywords we can compare directly, five improved and three declined, but the average movement across all of them was a loss of 2.6 positions, so the ranking picture is mixed rather than improving.

Separately, 45 open issues resolved in this window, but none of those are attributable to changes we made, so we are not claiming them. This first month was about clearing the groundwork. The next chapters will show whether that groundwork starts moving clicks.

Every figure above is measured from Search Console, Analytics and our own changeset log, frozen at the time each chapter was written so that a published claim keeps meaning what it meant. The next chapter is added when this site completes another month.
